Welcome to Jenn Bishop.  Jenn tells us, "I used to run Cross Country in high school and was very successful. That was back in 1993!! So now after almost 19 years I have started getting back into it. Started last year and ran my first half marathon in October. I am looking for some more people to run with and some different routes around Quakertown and nearby."

Dealing With Cold
Here's what your colleagues say:

Mary Latza - Long tights - thickness depends on the weather, I have some nice fleece lined ones for below 20, gloves, ear cover or hat, moisture wicking base layer (tshirt or tank) and a moisture wicking outer long sleeve layer, and sometimes a wind vest (esp at night because I wear my reflective one.) I don't look like I'm wearing a snowsuit.  Worn that combination down to negative temps and been just fine.   Tried something new today... even though I have kick-a$$ clothing for my arms and legs, sometimes my toes get cold in the winter. Well, I do this cycling and decided to give it a try while running. I took "press-n-seal" wrap, and cut it to fit over the top of my toes, and just placed it on top with a little over the front of my toes. Still plenty of breathability, but my toes were nice and toasty (with normal socks!)

Dawn Lowe - Run with friends to share the pain. Run with my dog to get HIM exercise and therefore ME at the same time. Do shorter workouts, ie. hills and Peake intervals so I don't have to be outside as long!!!! Hot yoga to thaw out and loosen up! : ) Pray for no snow and early spring.

Joan Korth-Bradley - Layers, but always including hat, double mittens and singlet under everything has kept me warm down in negative numbers.

Steve Foster - On the weekend, I run on the trail (the Delaware and Lehigh Trail in the Bethlehem area) and do short distance during the week on the road; definitely wear a balaclava (Ardvark in Bethlehem has a nice one); mittens; and a good quality running jacket that breaks the wind. Open that door!

Bob Bodkin - Bourbon in the Camelback (water freezes).

Springing into Competition
No matter how you feel about whether Cheetah Springs give him an unfair advantage, you have to respect Oscar Pistorius for all he has accomplished  after being born without a fibula in either leg.  http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/22/magazine/oscar-pistorius.html?pagewanted=1&hp

Club Races
Having been tricked into go9ing to the Chilly Cheeks, can you be fooled a second time to enter the Ugly Mudder?  At least it's an easier slog.  When the course isn't buried under a foot of snow and ice.
