It's That Time
Yes, for many of us (not me) the time has come to head off to Beantown
for the umpteenth (115th) Boston Marathon. Boston is, of course, the
grand-daddy of all marathons and a premier event worldwide. So
congratulations who both earned the qualifying time and braved the on-line
madhouse of registration to get in. You can track your favorite athlete
at www.baa.org. Good luck to
all. just remember, the course is ineligible for a world record so save
your sub-2:00 marathon or a different course!
New Mudfest, Old Fun
A whole bunch of issues forced big changes to the Mudfest course. All
reports I've gotten have been that the new course have been positive even
though all of the water crossings were taken out.
Rumor has it that there was a water crossing, at least a plastic swimming pool
crossing. That's why Mudfest needs to be on your bucket list.
Next Group Run
Our next group run will be on 4/14 on the Perk Trail at the Crusher Road
entrance. We'll meet at 10AM, You get a nice flat surface that's
very runnable and easy on the feet. You can turn around before hitting Spring
Mountain and still get in 8 miles. Those who are more ambitious are
welcome to arrive early and do extra miles. I'll be two-wheeling if
anyone wants to go that route. There are some nice routes out from Deep Creek
Park across Rt. 29. Looks like we'll have some great weather.
Club Races
A quick 1-2 punch between the Third Thirsty Thursday and the Tennis Zone
5Ks. Less than 48hrs apart, the two races allow you to do a total
of 10K with two nights sleep interspersed.
