New Members, Philly Weekend, Pools of All kinds, What's on Your Feet?

Welcome to Howard Renner.  Also welcome Chelsea Kerr.

Philly Help
As with all big Philly races, they're impossible to scroll through with 10K+ or more names.  Actually, it's not impossible for someone with dedication and patience, but I'm not going to do it.  Help me out to get the most accurate results possible by letting me know if you are running and which race.  Use bill.tuszynski@gmail.com.  Good luck to everyone, especially first-timers.  If you are a first timer, relax and enjoy the fact that you are guaranteed a personal best.  Thanks.

A parking tip - get off the Schuykill Expressway at Spring Garden Street, turn right and left at the first list.  You'll be in the northern end of the Drexel student slum where there is a boatload of free on-street parking.  Just walk back across the Expressway on Spring Garden and over to the Art Museum and you'll be at the starting line.  Going home, you can hop back onto the Schuykill without having to cross the race route and the attendant traffic.  The only downside is that you have to walk about a mile right after running 26.2.  Or have your posse find an old shopping cart abandoned by a vagrant and get them to wheel you back to the car.

Dec 31
As mentioned last week, Janet Esler is looking to run the New Year's Eve Midnight Madness 5K in NYC's Central Park and is seeking a group to join to head up.  Get a hold of me at bill.tuszynski@gmail.com if you're going or know of a group that Janet can join.

Carpools?
First Berwick on Thanksgiving Day from the Q-town Park & Ride at 8AM. We can meet you in the Lehigh Valley if you are coming from there.   Then on Sunday, we leave from the same place at 9:15 for the Dirty Bird 15K trail run.  I'll be doing both.

Shoes?
The barefoot running phenomenon has now been going on for a couple of years.  Have any of our group done some running either in minimalist shoes or entirely barefoot?  Share your experiences either by e-mailing them to me for the next newsletter or by posting them as comments on this site.

Posting
Being the lazy skunk that I am, I'm always happy to get contributions form others (see above).  Feel free to send me your thoughts either for inclusion in the newsletter or as separate blog posts.  Just keep it PG or better and stick to relevant topics.

Club Races
A week off for the Philly Marathon but back in the swing of things with two 5Ks to choose from on Saturday and the Dirty Bird on Sunday.  You can make two of these but all three would require a superhuman effort.

Website
Visit the club website, www.buxmontrunning.com and check out the "Athlete Profile" page featuring short self-written bios of club members. That I'm on there proves you don't have to be a good athlete to be on the page! Send yours to either me or Tom Daugherty. Tom actually does the work in his function as webmeister.

 Race Results
A lot of nice race performances as always with marathons and hills on both Saturday and Sunday.  Another nice job by D. Hettrick and her crew at the Macoby Run Run.  The post-race soup is to die for.  D did show bad form, however, as it is impolite for the race director to win her age group!
