Peace Valley Park (Lake Galena) on July 9 at the Sailor's Point parking lot (Myers Rd. & new Galena Rd. We'll start at 9:00 instead of 1:;00 to beat some of the heat. Once around the lake is 6 miles. Arrive earlier to do more if you want. Or do less if you want. I'll have my bike if anyone wants to ride instead. Off to dine afterwards. Windy City on the Cheap
Looking to run the Chicago Marathon and want to do it on the cheap? Not counting transportation and hotel and food, of course. Here's an offer from the American Liver Foundation about spots available for a fundraising commitment. "Hello! Exercise & Stress
Here's an article showing results with both mice and people suggesting that one of the benefits of regular exercise is an improved ability to withstand stress. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/07/06/why-exercise-makes-us-feel-good/ One of the points the article makes is that weight training is especially effective for women, speculating that women who weight trail feel comfortable in their ability ot beat the snot out of whatever gives them stress. There was no corresponding data on a possible increase in stress for husbands whose wives hit the free weights.

Double your pleasure, double your pain at the Double Trouble 15K/30K trail runs. Wimp runners should follow my weenie strategy of trying to finish the 15K in 2:00:30 so you can swear you were going to do the 30k but that bum Ron Horn wouldn't let you go out because of the two hour limit for the first loop.
