A Short One
Kind of scrambled this week so we'll be short and possibly sweet. Especially recovering from being an Angel of Mercy on Tuesday - driving one of the beer and sandwich carts in the rain at the Quakertown Rotary Golf Outing. "Peggy" was offering typical exemplary customer service until the beer ran out.
National Trail Running Day
Don't forget our event with Lehigh Valley Running Scene to celebrate National trail running Day. We'll meet at the Tower Road entrance at Lake Nockamixon State Park at 9:30 followed by a meal at Becker's Corner (formerly Cappy's). To get there, go to the intersection of Rtes. 611 and 412 at the top of Lake Nockamixon. Turn south (right) on 611 and right at the first light which, is Tower Road. Go ~1 mile down Tower Road to the parking area where we will meet. We should get a big crowd and parking is limited so carpool if at all possible. As always, you're welcome to come early if you are ambitious and want to do extra. Jill and Bob Bodkin will be marking the parking area (not the trail) with signs. We'll need to get an approximate head count to Becker's so they have enough staff on at opening as our group should be both big and in dire need of calories, both liquid and solid. I wonder if you might be able to help me spread the word about an opportunity for local runners. Allied Services is an official Bronze Charity of the NYC Marathon. This in connection with WNEP TV's Ryan Leckey, who is leading our team again this year. We are raffling off our final guaranteed runner spot in this year's marathon.
The information about the raffle is as follows:
Allied Services is offering one lucky runner the chance to win a place in the 2011 NYC Marathon! We will be raffling off 1 place in the NYC Marathon at our FREE Ryan's Run Family Fun Day, Sunday August 28, 2011, 12:00 - 3:00 at the Racing Tracks at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Wilkes-Barre.
Raffle tickets are $26.20 and can be purchased at the event. Drawing will be held August 28. Winner must be present to win. All proceeds benefit Allied Services, a non-profit organization and one NEPA's area's most diverse providers of rehabilitation medicine, senior care, home health care, vocational and residential services.
