Quite a Mess
Lots of washouts on Sunday as  not everyone followed the lead of the runner pictured below.  A number of races were rescheduled for 9/18 although the greater logistical challenges of the Perk Up Half Marathon means that we won't see that race until 2012.  how many got outside for a run on Sunday?  Anybody go in the morning when it was blowing sideways?

Around the World
Almost 20% of the visitors to this site are from outside North America.  As you can see, we have an active running scene in our area (Eastern Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia).  We're also very interested to hear about what things are like in your country.  How popular is running?  Are there many races?  Are most runners young or old or is there an even spread across the ages?  Are there many active clubs?  Share your experiences in the comments section and I'll weave them into a future newsletter. 

Dedicated or Doofy?
There was a shot from Saturday of a runner in Kitty Hawk NC going for a 6 mile trek as Irene makes landfall.  She was barely visible in the driving rain.  You make your own judgement.

Club Races
Run for the Ages on Saturday.  As an age-graded race, your starting time is based on age and gender with the idea of everyone finishing at the same time.  Last year 7-8 different age groups were represented in the top 10 finishers including F-70+.  I ran it last year and it's an eerie feeling starting before so many others and knowing that others have a head start on you.  The head west again for the Labor Pains endurance run, especially if you're unsure how to spend 12 hours on sunday.  not that the race goes past the Liederkrantz on every loop so you can get rehydrated (and looped) as well.
