Fitness Event at Lake Nockamixin
This from Stephanie Straub, the Event Coordinator:  "I . . .  (want) to invite you to the Great PA Outdoor Challenge Demo Day event Ill be hosting from 11am-3pm at the Haycock Boat Launch on Saturday, September 17.  This event is meant to promote and celebrate the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation's 3rd annual Great Pennsylvania Outdoor Challenge.  Participants raise funds while engaging in fun outdoor activities, aiming to bike, hike, run, paddle, etc. for at least 30 minutes a day through a 30-day period (September 10-October 9).   Eastern Mountain Sports Warrington is bringing out a fleet of rental kayaks for visitors to demo for free, Valley Mountain Bikers will be talking about mountain biking and the parks new MTB trails, and Ill lead geocaching and disc golf demos."

Volunteers Needed
Via Dick Patterson, the organizers of the friends of the Dove 10K at Peace Valley Park need volunteers.  If you've never done it, give it a try as its a great experience, a chance to see parts of the race you would miss while running and gives a greater appreciation of what the organizers have do to make a race come off successfully.  And, if you are a back-ender like me, it's your only opportunity to see fast runners from the front.  Here are the details:

The Friends of the Dove 10k and 2 Mile Nature Walk is right around the corner and they are still looking for volunteers- spread the word!   The race is set for September 18, 2011.  If you are unable to help, perhaps you can pass this along to anyone you may know who could help.  Thanks!

Dedicated or Doofy?
It turns out a lot of our members were out Saturday and Sunday, mostly early on Saturday and later on Sunday.  Both Steve Foster, with a track workout in the wind, and Terry Rooney, who ran along Delaware Avenue on Saturday and Sunday, braved the worst of the storm.  Both get a pair of dry socks for their effort.

Thanks to Alice, you get a second chance to do the Run Wild at the Zoo up at  the  Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville.  There's a new 10K run for those looking for more distance than a 5K can offer.
